SharePoint Upgrade in Azure Environment
AN MDS HYBRID CLOUD SUCCESS STORY
The MDS LATAM team worked to upgrade SharePoint on Azure with connection to an on-premises server.
The Challenge
The client was looking to upgrade from SharePoint 2013 to SharePoint 2016 on-premises. MDS discussed many options including moving to SPO or Azure, but the challenge was the gas production company had confidential data that they could not allow on any public cloud.

The Solution
MDS held an event in Trinidad and Tobago and was engaged by the local Microsoft representatives to assist in this upgrade. MDS was able to deploy a new SharePoint 2019 Farm on Azure with a connection to an on-premises Content/Database server. The SharePoint environment in Azure was setup in hybrid with SPO. MDS also migrated site collections to SPO using Quest Metalogix Content Matrix tool.
The Result
The client was able to upgrade without issues to the new version of SharePoint. This enabled the clients’ users to be more collaborative and secure when sharing files and working together.
