OneDrive for Business Migration

MDS executed a full migration for a leading manufacturing company and secured its remote users.

MDS deployed a professional services & staffing company to our Monitoring Managed Service.

The Challenge

Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, all of the client’s users started working from remote locations, however, they were not able to access their business-critical information stored on the on-premise file server network. The client wanted to implement a cloud-based storage that is highly available, reliable, and most importantly, secure.

The Solution

After assessing the client’s current IT environment and procedures, MDS was recommended OneDrive for Business, meeting the requirement of a highly available, secure cloud storage solution that helped get rid of the dependencies of their on-premise file share server network.

To deliver and setup ODB services, MDS helped them not only configure their environment but also added our best practices and knowledge to enable them to adopt a cloud platform as per their predefined goals.

MDS assessed their architecture, enabled, and then remediated any technical roadblocks they faced during their adoption to new a platform.

MDS helped them understand and leverage the Office 365 cloud-based securities to ensure the data they are uploading to the cloud and making it available to their users from non-corporate based devices was still secure and managed as per the company policies and security guidelines.

The Result

A successful migration to OneDrive for Business and highly accepted adoption by the company employees was implemented accordingly. MDS helped the client understand their new cloud platform and functionalities through hands-on, virtual training.  Overall, this project helped decrease their dependencies of on-prem server management which reduces not only the cost of infrastructure but the fear of data loss in case of a disaster or data breach. With Office 365 being highly secure and the data uploaded in the cloud being replicated to Microsoft Datacenters gives them a sigh of relief. This also enabled their employees to work collaboratively and securely from home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Over the past few months, we worked with the FastTrack team to prepare and plan our OneDrive project. The FastTrack team helped in coordinating and aligning our puzzle pieces for this project. From rollout strategies to OneDrive group policies, they had answers and use cases to help us make the best decisions for our business. Nitesh, Senior Support Engineer, impressed us with his knowledge in OneDrive as well as regarding anything within the O365 suite. He displayed his in-depth knowledge as he ran our internal training. There has not been a question throughout this process that he could not answer. We will continue to utilize the Fasttrack team for any issues we might experience as we move towards our wide rollout. As we progress, we have no doubt that the Fasttrack team will be able to help us resolve any questions or issues in a timely manner to allow us to better support our business.”
